CIFA publishes the first sustainability report of the concrete machinery sector

CIFA presents the Group’s first corporate Sustainability Report. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the company, making it the first in the concrete machinery sector to transparently and comprehensively report its environmental, social, and economic performance.

The sector faces numerous challenges: while the growth in construction and demand for construction machinery has been a constant over the past three years, driven by increased investments (notably from NextGen EU and PNRR) in major projects and infrastructure upgrades, several critical issues need to be addressed. The industrial sector, among the first to act on achieving the European Union's Carbon Neutrality targets, must also improve its impact on social issues such as workplace safety. Additionally, the sustainability of concrete, the world's second most-used construction material after water, requires significant focus to reduce its carbon footprint. Thus, technological innovation aimed at safety and environmental impact reduction remains a key priority for CIFA.

The publication of this report aims to document the company's efforts in developing the sector sustainably and to initiate regular, structured communication of the results achieved to all stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and anyone involved with the CIFA Group.

Davide Cipolla, CEO of CIFA: "We recognize our crucial role in the construction value chain, and we are committed to promoting the transformation of the entire sector by embodying sustainability values. Our mission is to protect the environment and society as a whole. We have adopted ethical practices and implemented responsible actions toward our main stakeholders. Our goal is to ensure the highest safety standards for our suppliers, customers, collaborators, and everyone who benefits from the environments built with our products. We continuously improve our products, investing in research and innovation to ensure maximum durability. This is the first report of this kind from our Group, prepared voluntarily, not yet required by European directives. We aim to turn regulations into strategic opportunities for innovation, improvement, and growth, both as individuals and as a Group."

For CIFA, sustainability means integrating principles into daily operations that minimize environmental impact, promote social well-being, and ensure responsible economic management. Specifically, the company is committed to:

  • Reducing the ecological footprint by developing innovative technologies for energy-efficient and low-emission machines.
  • Promoting the safety, health, and well-being of workers through rigorous safety standards and continuous training programs.
  • Contributing to the community by participating in social initiatives and supporting projects that improve the quality of life in the communities where it operates.

These ambitious goals are supported by a structured plan, summarized in the three pillars of CIFA's sustainability strategy, which encompass the actions needed to achieve them:

  • Pillar 1 - Green & Circular Mindset | Reducing environmental impact by embedding and promoting a circular approach throughout the company and its supply chain.
  • Pillar 2 - People Empowerment | Caring of the growth and development of individuals.
  • Pillar 3 - Ecosystem Approach | Preserving and strengthening the local environment.

Documenting activities with environmental and social objectives using data and metrics is essential for several reasons:

  • Transparency and trust, enabling stakeholders to clearly understand how the company addresses sustainability challenges.
  • Monitoring and improvement, allowing CIFA to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted strategies to enhance its positive impact.
  • Competitiveness and innovation, demonstrating a concrete commitment to sustainability stimulates innovations that set new market standards.
