For the BAUMA 2025 edition in Munich, the world's largest construction trade fair, CIFA is fully offsetting the emissions generated by its participation by investing in two high-impact sustainability projects: the Bosco Siro Negri in Italy and the Renew Solar Power Private Limited solar energy project in India.
This initiative is made possible thanks to the collaboration with LifeGate, a company specializing in corporate sustainability.
Many aspects need to be considered to measure the impact that participation in a trade fair like Bauma can have. CIFA, with LifeGate, has calculated this by including activities such as:
Located within the Lombardy Ticino Valley Park, the Bosco Siro Negri is one of the last lowland forests in the Po Valley. Recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve since 2002, the park extends over 91,000 hectares between Lombardy and Piedmont and hosts a rich biodiversity.
Since 2001, the Lombardy Ticino Valley Park has launched a reforestation and conservation project in collaboration with LifeGate, generating carbon credits used to finance environmental protection activities. These include planting native trees, monitoring biodiversity, maintenance interventions to ensure forest growth, and environmental awareness initiatives aimed at the community.
The Bosco Siro Negri plays a crucial role in combating climate change thanks to its ability to sequester CO₂. It also protects the soil from erosion and promotes the natural restoration of surrounding wooded areas. CIFA, with its contribution, helps ensure the continuity of this virtuous model of sustainable development.
In parallel, CIFA is investing in the Renewable Solar Power Project of Renew Solar Power Private Limited, an initiative aimed at producing clean energy in India. The project, with an installed capacity of 927 MW, provides electricity from renewable sources in the states of Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
Since 2017, the project has significantly contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preventing the release of 370,310 tons of CO₂ in the last monitoring period (July-September 2023). Furthermore, the initiative promotes local socio-economic development by creating job opportunities, improving infrastructure, and encouraging investment in renewable energy.
With these two initiatives, CIFA proves that sustainability is not only an ethical responsibility but an opportunity to generate a positive impact on the planet and local communities. The carbon-neutral participation in Bauma represents a concrete step towards an increasingly environmentally conscious business model focused on ecological transition.
Investing in offsetting projects such as the Bosco Siro Negri and solar energy in India makes it possible to reduce the carbon footprint and promote innovative and sustainable solutions. CIFA invites companies and professionals in the sector to follow this example, contributing to building a greener future for all. To learn more about our efforts towards Sustainability read here.
